About Us

Twice as Nice Designs, LTD was established in 1989 by the Logsdon/Fluharty families, both pioneers in the doll crafting business. Through their hard work and insight it quickly became one of the first companies to manufacture cloth doll patterns and yarns designed specifically for use as doll hair.

In 1995, Karen Fluharty joined Twice As Nice, handling the daily business. Then, in 2002 she purchased the business and continued with the same high quality products and the same customer service that started the company. Each order is hand wound and usually shipped within 2-3 days and most yarns are hand dyed.

Recently, Karen made the decision to sell Twice As Nice Designs, LTD to us, Marcia Eveland and Amy Sawyers. Although we have a differnt address and area code, "as the crow flies" we are a mere 20 miles from Karen. We are now based in Winterset, Iowa - home of John Wayne and "The Bridges of Madison County".

We have worked together for seven years doing retail and custom gardening, but we have always been interested in starting a business that didn't require so much of our tired backs! Marcia's husband, Greg, works with Karen at a local True Value and that is how we found out about Twice As Nice Designs, LTD, and as they say - the rest is history!

Marcia and Greg live on an acreage outside Winterset where they raise Pulis (a Hungarian herding dog) which Marcia used to show, They have two sons, Nate who is 31 and married with twin 4 year old daughters and Nick who is 23 and a plumber's apprentice. Marcia loves to garden, antique and attend dog shows.

Amy and her husband Steve have a small farm outside Winterset where they raised three sons - Jack is 25, Bryan is 23 and Nick is 19. Through the years they have been very active with the boys' sports, all the way through college. Amy loves her gardens and cats and spends spare time (what's that?) scrap booking, reading and entertaining.

We are having a lot of fun learning the yarn business and are eager and excited to carry on the tradition of quality and service that Twice As Nice Designs, LTD was built upon. We will be introducing new items, some we're sure you've never seen before, and new additions to our website. We look forward to hearing from you with any requests or suggestions you may have

Our company currently sells over 70 colors and styles of natural yarns to all 50 states and exports across the globe. Our unique line of yarns has enough colors and textures for any doll (wooden or cloth) or project needing hair or beards. Many are also suitable for knitting, crocheting and weaving. All the yarns are color-fast, durable and will not stretch or lose their curl. We offer retail purchasing for those who cannot find our products locally as well as wholesale for stores and professional crafters.
