Corn (Ingeo)
Fibers

We at Twice As Nice Designs, LTD, are excited to be one of the first
companies to offer the newest and most unique crafting fiber on the
market. It is all natural, no chemicals added and is one of
the 'greenest' crafting products in the marketplace and is 100%
machine washable. You'll have to see it and use it to believe it!
Ingeo(TM) Yarn and Fiber is made from 100% corn
grown and processed in the Midwest - USA! The yellow kernels of corn
(not the corn silk) are cooked and the corn sugars are fermented in
a process similar to making Yogurt. After fermenting, the water is
removed and what's left looks like a crystal pellet. These pellets
are sent to a textile mill where they are spun into fiber. The
entire process takes place in the United States.
All of our yarn and fiber is handpainted and steamed. Your yarn is
machine washable but can singe if an iron would be placed directly
on it.
Corn Balls
and skeins - -Prim: We offer an assortment of primitive colors
in our five pack of yarn balls - fox red, fiery
sunset, plum pudding, stormy skies and natural. Pastels - green,
yellow, purple, pink and blue. Brights - orange, yellow, blue,
green and pink. These fantastic yarns are also
available in 150 yd. skeins.
Corn Roving - Soft as cotton but
made of corn, this fiber comes in natural and three beautiful
colors. Because of the fiber structure, this works great for needle
felting, but NOT wet felting. Prim Colors: fox red, fiery red, plum
pudding, natural. Bright Colors: orange, yellow, blue, green
and pink. Pastel colors: green, yellow, purple, pink and blue.
The following colors were consigned by and specially dyed for
designer Elinor Peace-Bailey - fuchsia, orange, yellow, turquoise,
chartreuse, purple.
Corn Crimps - At the textile mill, the
crimps are add to the fiber to add loft when it is combed and carded
into yarn. We carefully removed some of these crimps
prior to the fiber being made into yarn because they are FUN!!!
The crimps have many uses and just as many undiscovered ones! They
can be used as wild hair, needle felted onto items, added to "wet"
felt landscape projects (they look like water, sun rays, etc) but
really they just make you smile! Prim colors: fox red, fiery sunset, plum pudding,
natural, earth brown. Pastel colors: purple, blue, yellow, pink and
green. Bright colors: orange, blue, yellow, fuchsia and green.
